Advanced Massage Therapy

Soft Tissue Therapy

Advanced Massage Therapy is a comprehensive approach to treating and preventing musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. It involves the assessment, treatment, and management of soft tissue injury, pain, and dysfunction of the body. Here are some key points about Advanced Massage Therapy:

  • Advanced Massage Therapy targets musclestendonsligaments, and fascia to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall function.
  • The therapist uses various manual techniques, such as massagemyofascial release, stretching, and joint mobilization, to address soft tissue imbalances and restrictions.
  • Advanced Massage Therapy aims to reduce tension, improve circulation, and promote tissue healing and repair.
  • It is often used to address conditions like muscle strainstendonitis, postural issues, and repetitive strain injuries.

Advanced Massage Therapy can be beneficial for individuals of all ages and activity levels, from office workers to athletes. It is commonly used as part of rehabilitation programs, sports training, and general wellness maintenance.

Sports Massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, ligaments and tendons.

This therapy is very popular amongst sportsmen and women when dealing with injuries or the prevention thereof. Everyday minor injuries can still be extremely painful and may seriously affect your occupation, sport or quality of life. If not treated properly at an early stage, they can lead to a more serious long-term condition. Massage can treat the majority of minor musculoskeletal problems quickly and effectively.

Remedial Massage deals with any concern that arises from a cause other than a sporting activity. This could be occupational or recreational, and often results in poor posture and muscle imbalances. The techniques used to address these problems are the same as those used in Sports Massage.

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck, upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. Some benefits of deep tissue massage include:

  • Breaking down scar tissue
  • Improving blood pressure
  • Reducing chronic pain
  • Increasing joint mobility
  • Reducing muscle tension

During a deep tissue massage, the massage therapist will use slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. This type of massage is not only relaxing, but it can also be quite therapeutic. It’s important to communicate with your massage therapist about the level of pressure you’re comfortable with, as deep tissue massage can be intense.

Hydrotherm is a 3 Dimensional Massage Treatment that is performed on warm water cushions that are placed on a massage couch. The treatment can be performed with or without the use of oils. The client lies face up and does not have to turn over, which is ideal for people who do not like to lay face down or who are unable to. The therapist works between the cushions and the client’s body using upward pressure. The warm water relaxes the muscles and the water supports the body, this gives a sensation of floating.

The Hydrotherm system is suitable for all ages and it is very effective during all stages* of pregnancy.

This kind of treatment can also be useful in the context of medial conditions such as Cancer, Parkinson’s, Multiple sclerosis (MS), Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), Arthritis and muscles strains*, as well as helping with postural correction.
*Following a thorough Initial Assessment some conditions may require medical approval.

Full Body Massage based on Swedish techniques is beneficial for stress relief and relaxation. It does not go as deep as a sports massage but is still highly therapeutic. It is beneficial if you have a lot of muscular tension, need help to relax and unwind, or if you’re feeling sluggish and need to boost your energy levels.

Although one session is highly beneficial, regular Swedish massage treatments maximise its numerous benefits.

The Niel Asher Technique for Frozen Shoulder is a trigger point therapy designed to aid a faster recovery.
Frozen shoulder can be very painful and frustrating due to the decreased range of movement. It is not fully known what triggers Frozen shoulder but it can follow after a serious injury or operation. Left to its own devices the process of freezing, frozen and thawing can take a few years to return to normal and people may still find that their movement is not what it used to be.

However, with the Niel Asher Technique it has been found that this process can be greatly reduced with regular sessions and is much more likely to regain full movement.

As a Chartered Physiotherapist Izabela is qualified to provide Lymphatic drainage massage, also known as manual lymphatic drainage. This can relieve swelling that happens when medical treatment or illness blocks your lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage massage involves gently manipulating specific areas of your body to help lymph move to an area with working lymph vessels.
