The Importance of Alignment
Pecs (common problems)
One of the most common misalignments that can happen within the human body is something called Upper Cross Syndrome.
Although our bodies can adapt very well to the stresses and strains we put it through, there usually comes a time we start to feel pain because our alignment is incorrect. This pain could begin between the shoulder blades or up into the neck. The longer we neglect to address this concern the greater the chances of a ‘knock-on’ effect of muscle imbalance and pain into our lower back.
The Pectoralis muscle tightening is the beginning of this common pattern. It is important to stretch this muscle regularly in order to maintain a good length that allows the shoulder girdle to sit properly at the back of the rib cage. This will counteract the negative effects that a poor posture elicits.
A massage technique that you can do at home is a Myofascial Release.
There are other ways to stretch this muscle (see examples below), so find one that works for you and start doing it on a daily basis.
